Isle of Eriska
Hidden away on its own island the Isle of Eriska Hotel offers a luxury hotel and spa experience for its clientele as well as the chance to enjoy the surrounding landscape via sailing, golf, shooting and walking around the isle. The owners of the hotel have been early advocated of renewable energy, in particular biomass heating and made the decision to replace the existing oil heating boilers in the staff accommodation blocks with a biomass heating installation. In order to reduce time spent on site causing disruption to the isle’s operations Scot Heating Company supplied a containerised wood pellet system that heats the two accommodation blocks on site. These units where designed and built offsite and delivered pre-commissioned so that time spent on site was kept to a minimum ensuring a quick and efficient installation.
The Biomass Solution
Scot Heating Company Ltd have supplied and installed 3 Fischer PX50 wood pellet boilersproviding a total output capacity of 145kWth. The boilers have been plumbed in series to modulate to suit the heating demand at the time. A 1000 litre buffer vessel is installed within the packaged plant room. A separate packaged wood pellet store sited next to the plant room provides a 12 tonne store for deliveries via blower vehicle.
Service and Support
Scot Heating Company has entered into an Energy Supply Contract with the Isle of Eriska to provide continuous heating to the staff accommodation block. Supplied on a pence per kWh price that includes remote system monitoring, service and maintenance and emergency call out this service provides peace of mind to the hotel owners and allows them to focus on their core activities.
